Significant Investor Visas (Subclass 188)

Understand Your Options & Invest With Confidence

The Significant Investor Visa (SIV) Subclass 188 provides a pathway to invest in Australia while obtaining a provisional visa. At ODV Private Wealth, we guide you through the investment requirements and help you structure a compliant, diversified portfolio.

Nomination Requirements

To apply for a SIV Subclass 188 Visa:

  • You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency or Austrade before being invited to apply.

  • The nomination must not be withdrawn after you submit your application, or Immigration cannot grant the visa.

We can connect you with highly skilled migration agents to assist with your application and expression of interest, ensuring you meet all nomination requirements.

Investment Requirements

For invitations received on or after 1 July 2021, you must make a minimum AUD 5 million complying investment at the time of application and intend to maintain it for the life of your provisional visa. Investments must include:

  • AUD 1 million in venture capital and growth private equity funds investing in start-ups and small private companies

  • AUD 1.5 million in approved managed funds investing in emerging ASX-listed companies

  • AUD 2.5 million as a balancing investment in managed funds, which may include:

    • Companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange

    • Australian corporate bonds or notes

    • Annuities

    • Commercial real estate

Restrictions:

  • Direct investment in residential real estate is prohibited

  • Indirect investment in residential property via managed funds is strictly limited

At ODV Private Wealth, we help you create diversified portfolios that comply with these strict SIV 188 frameworks, while explaining all critical concepts in plain language.
